Congratulations to Eradio Martinez,
2023 Recipient of the Emily Crocker Emerging Composer Competition

TCDA would like to congratulate Eradio Martinez on the selection of his composition “Remember” as the winning composition of the 3rd annual Emily Crocker Emerging Composer Competition. Eradio is the Choral Director at San Benito High School in San Benito Texas.  Eradio has established himself as a dynamic, energetic and talented leader and musician.  He is also the recipient of the TCDA Young Director of Distinction Award in 2019.

From the adjudication committee, "It is an extremely well written poetic setting for 8th and 9th grade treble choirs. It would also be a wonderful piece for honor choirs. The cello and the piano parts are supportive and interesting. The vocal parts are ideal for range and tessitura of this the level. “Remember” offers lots of opportunities for expression and musical growth".

This piece was premiered by the MS/JH All-State Choir on Saturday, July 22, 2023.

We would like to extend special thanks to Emily Crocker and Hal Leonard for their sponsorship of this competition, as well as Meredith Thompkins and Zachary Steele for their service as adjudicators in this process.
