2024 TCDA Elementary Honor Choir

TCDA is thrilled to open auditions for the 2024 Elementary Honor Choir under the direction of Dr. Rollo Dilworth. Dr. Dilworth is Vice Dean and Professor of Choral Music Education at Temple University’s Center for the Performing and Cinematic Arts in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Dilworth teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in choral music education, leads the university's “Singing Owls” Campus/Community Chorus and is Artistic Director of the Philadelphia based community choir, Singing City.

Dilworth's choral publications can be found in the catalogs of Hal Leonard, Colla Voce, EC Schirmer, Walton, and Santa Barbara. His choral pedagogy books entitled Choir Builders have been widely circulated among elementary, secondary, community, and church choral directors. He is a contributing author for Essential Elements for Choirs and Experiencing Choral Music. He served as a lead author for the Voice in Concert textbook series. Dilworth frequently serves as a guest conductor and/or clinician for festival and all-state choirs throughout the United States and abroad. He currently serves on the Chorus America Board of Directors, having served as Chair from 2013-2016.

General Audition Information

Auditions open on November 1, 2023. Directors must be current TCDA members to submit their students. Each director may submit as many singers as they like. Auditions are open to students who are currently in 4th, 5th, or 6th grade. 6th graders whose voices have already transitioned to Tenor or Bass are eligible to audition for the Middle School/Junior High All State Choir.  Please see the detailed audition instructions HERE.

Expenses and Making Payments

The fees Elementary Honor Choir members pay assists in TCDA's costs of hiring our guest clinician and accompanist. Additionally, it pays for each member to receive their sheet music, a tote bag, water bottle, video and audio recordings of the concert, and a t-shirt that will be worn during their performance. All fees are non-refundable. Expenses include:

Audition fee - $20
Registration fee - $120
Hotel/ Food/Transportation - arranged and paid for by participant’s family

Financial Support

TCDA is proud to offer the Lou Leonard scholarship to Honor Choir participants each year. This scholarship helps cover the cost of registration and travel expenses. The scholarship application will be made available to students who are accepted into the choir in February.

Failure to do so can result in the disqualification of a student’s application. The primary form of communication will be by email. More information regarding deadlines will be sent via email.  Music, rehearsal tracks, and a more detailed schedule will be available in late March.
