A Life in Quotations by Kari Gilbertson, President

"It's a Small World After All..."   When I took my first teaching job fresh out of college, I met with the high school choir director who I was replacing.  She was bright, funny, talented, helpful, and excited to pass on her advice and knowledge.  She was clearly going places!  Her name was Lori Dr. Lori Hetzel.  Fast forward 27 years and she is one of the country's preeminent experts in Women's Choirs and vocal pedagogy...and the conductor of our 2017 TCDA Director's Chorus!  Her work with the University of Kentucky Women's Chorus and the Lexington Singers Children's Choir is extraordinary!   I've seen her work and speak at national and regional conventions and you won't be disappointed.  And the newest TCDA Commissioned work, Searching Love, by Kim Arneson is absolutely stunning.  You won't want to miss being a part of this musical experience.  Treble voices, reserve your spot now!  Eric Whitacre was a feast for our eyes...this choir will be a feast for our souls.

"Ain't nobody got time for that!"  Remember that viral quote/video from a few years ago?  It rang true for so many different scenarios.  (Sinus infections, flat tires, parent teacher conferences...etc.)  You don't have time to read over 2,200 octavos of the newly published music in 2016-2017 sent by our participating publishers.  But your TCDA Board made the time for reading them all.  The Board has read, voted, and vetted our new music reading packets for this summer's convention throughout this whole year.  Our spring board meeting was earlier this month and we're excited to share these reading selections with you all.  That's a major part of our responsibility to our membership, along with planning workshops, choirs, worship services, concerts.  Check out all the great events and reading sessions we have planned.

"Perspective is a beautiful thing!"  This is my personal life motto and it serves me well when I lose perspective about my own blessings and struggles.  Did you know that our state membership and convention is one of the most affordable in the country?  I did a little research and found the registration costs for some other wonderful state-ACDA events.  Here's what I found:

Sure, some were more comparable...but none of them were TCDA!  We're so proud of what we have and what we offer year round.  Here's the pricing for TCDA 2017.
