TCDA Commissioned Choral Works

In 1977 TCDA commissioned its first choral work There and Back Again by Alice Parker. Since that year TCDA has commissioned at least one new choral work each year.

In 2005, TCDA's 50th Anniversary Year, four works were commissioned, one for each TCDA Division. Newly commissioned works are premiered at the TCDA Convention each year. Some are by Elementary or Middle School/Junior High School Honor Choirs, others by Directors Choruses or invited choirs.

Whether TCDA commissioned a work in 1981 is unknown. If anyone knows this missing bit of TCDA history, it would be greatly appreciated if he or she would contact the TCDA office with that information.
