2015 TCDA MS/JH Honor Choir
We are thrilled to have Dr. Andrea Ramsey as our Honor Choir Conductor this year. Dr. Andrea Ramsey is a composer, conductor, music educator and native of Arkansas. Her teaching experiences range from work with adolescent and children’s voices to frequent guest conducting of all-state and honor choirs, to her current position as the Associate Director of Choral Studies at the University of Colorado Boulder. An active member of ACDA, ASCAP, and NAfMe, Andrea believes strongly in the growth of young people as musicians and human beings through the experience of performing meaningful choral music.
Andrea currently teaches choral methods and undergraduate conducting, and conducts the University Chorus. She has 13 years of teaching experience with children’s, public school and university choruses. She received her Ph.D. in music education from Michigan State University, where she was a University Distinguished Fellow and her MM in choral conducting from the University of Kansas. An ASCAP award-winning composer, Ramsey composes for a wide range of voices and ability levels and has over 60 works in press with publishers such as Hal Leonard, Boosey & Hawkes, Alliance, Santa Barbara, Walton, Colla Voce and Carl Fischer. She is composer-in-residence to the Allegro Choirs of Kansas City, where she has twice toured abroad with the choirs to Italy, Austria and the Czech Republic. She has been a guest conductor around the United States and North American, including Canada, New Jersey, New York, Michigan, Mississippi, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, North Carolina, Minnesota and West Virginia.
Auditions open on February 2 and will be done completely online. Mp3 files and the audition form will be completed at http://tcda.opusevent.com.
